Finding the right tennis trainer is less about trophies and more about fit. A great coach watches how you move, how you learn, and what frustrates you — then builds sessions around that.
Start with a trial session and pay attention to three things: does the coach explain the why behind each drill, do you hit enough balls to build rhythm, and do you leave understanding one clear thing to practice? If the answer is yes three weeks in a row, you have found your trainer.
Ask about certification, playing experience, and how they structure a season — technique blocks, match play, and conditioning should all appear. The best trainers also film your strokes occasionally; video never lies, and progress becomes visible.
At Larkspur Racket Club every new member gets a free assessment rally with a coach before joining a program, so the trainer you start with is the right one from day one.
